New Delhi: Union Minister Uma Bharti will meet with the Uttar Pradesh government today to seek cooperation in her pledge to clean Ganga and the Sangam in years, as she has vowed.
Uma Bharti, a senior BJP leader and Union Minister of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation had pledged to clean up Ganga within three years and had also cited dismay over the extent of pollution after an inspection in Allahabad saying the people were getting only "effluents" and not "Ganga jal" from the river.
“Since a major part of the holy river's trajectory runs through UP, the help and cooperation of the state government will be obviously required”, she said.
I seek help and cooperation of the state government, she added.
