Meenakshi Lekhi is the daughter-in-law of eminent Supreme Court lawyer Prem Nath Lekhi. P N Lekhi appeared as a counsel for Satwant Singh, the man who had assassinated Indira Gandhi. Ironically, while Meenakshi is a staunch supporter of Narendra Modi and keeps defending his role during 2002 Gujarat riots,her father-in-law appeared for Zahira Sheikh, the Muslim girl who lost her family in the Best Bakery riots of 2002.
