Lucknow: BSP supremo Mayawati today demanded a CBI investigation into the recovery of over 100 bodies from river Ganga in Unnao district over the past few days. “People of the state are terrified and most concerned following the recovery of some 104 unclaimed bodies at the Ganga ghat in Unnao and our party demands a CBI inquiry into it so that the real facts could come before the people,” Mayawati told reporters here.
She also charged the Uttar Pradesh government of failing on all fronts especially on the law and order situation, in the wake of the hooch tragedy.
Citing the recent murder of BSP candidate from Atrauli in Uttar Pradesh Dharmendra Chaudhary, she said BSP leaders, workers and people's representatives have been at the receiving end.
“In these conditions, the outsiders desist from investing in the state following which the chief minister and his officers have to make requests to them,” she said adding that development and economic uplift of the people of the state would not gain momentum under these circumstances.
She accused the BJP and Samajwadi Party of internally having “good relations” claiming there appeared to be no chances of imposition of President's rule in the state to rid the state of the prevailing misrule.
“Seeing the internal good relations between the BJP and SP to serve their political interests there appear to be no chances of governor or the central government recommending President's rule to rid the people of anti-development jungleraj of the Samajwadi Party,” Mayawati claimed.
Earlier, the BSP supremo had made an appeal to Governor Ram Naik through the media to recommend President's rule in the state in view of dismal law and order situation. The former chief minister said that her party holds both the current BJP and former Congress government as much responsible for this state of affairs in Uttar Pradesh as the ruling SP.
She appealed to party workers to raise their voice against both the SP and BJP till the next Vidhan Sabha polls so that a check is maintained on them.
