BJP on Tuesday described the Maoist attack on a police camp in West Bengal as a "blow" to Home Minister P Chidambaram and to his claim of having a grasp on the subject of naxalism.
"Last night's Maoists attack on a police camp in Midnapore in West Bengal is a blow to Home Minister P Chidambaram and his ministry. The Home Minister has been tom-tomming his policies and his grasp on the subject of naxalism. However, he has failed to take any concrete action on ground," BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy told reporters in New Delhi.
Rudy said instead of taking concrete action, "the Home Minister has repeatedly been making loud insinuations. The government, meanwhile, has been a lame duck to such attacks and seems to have no answer to internal as well as external attacks (referring to Pune blast)".
The BJP leader further said that "arrogance is not a strategy to fight and contain naxalism. The country is under attack internally and externally and what happened in Pune was a complete intelligence failure. The situation on law and order front has been going out of hand and the country would like to seek an answer on the anarchy prevailing in the country." PTI
