Srinagar: Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar will visit Srinagar today and will be briefed at 15 Corps Headquarters by senior Army officers on the security situation in the wake of recent terror attacks in Kashmir, including the lethal attack in Uri on the Army camp that killed 11 security personnel.
This is Parrikar's maiden visit after assuming charge. He will be briefed by senior army officers about the situation in the Valley and along the Line of Control (LOC), said an army official.
"The Defence Minister will also be briefed about the counter-infiltration grid in place along the LoC and the counter-insurgency grid in the hinterland," he said.
The Defence Minister is also likely to visit the War Memorial at the Badamibagh headquarters of Army's 15 Corps to pay tributes to the eight soldiers, including a Lieutenant Colonel, who were killed in the militant attack at Uri on December 5.
