Patna:  Opposition BJP today trashed as “bundle of lies” the Jitan Ram Manjhi annual report card showcasing achievements of the government and charged it with “stealing” figures of previous NDA government to portray a “rosy” picture.

“The achievements shown are actually those of the coalition government (NDA government, which ruled the state till June 2013),” senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi told reporters while presenting party's assessment report as a counter to government's annual performance report card released yesterday.

The BJP's report card on Manjhi governent bore a cartoon to display the prevailing political scenario in the state. It shows Nitish Kumar on the feet of Lalu Prasad and a laughing Manjhi sitting on a throne.

Coming hard on the JD(U) government, Sushil Modi described Manjhi as “Ghosna Mukhya Mantri” (CM deft in making announcements) and alleged that he like RJD President Lalu Prasad was taking Bihar to “dark days of infamy.” “Like Lalu Prasad he (Manjhi) is also spending time in entertaining people through ‘hassi majaak' (fun and laughter) at the cost of development works,” Sushil Modi flanked by Leader of Opposition in Assembly Nand Kishore Yadav and state party chief Mangal Pandey, said.

Contesting figures given in 124-page annual report released by Chief Minister Manjhi yesterday on completion of ninth year of JD(U) government in power, the BJP leaders assailed it for slide in law and order “which used to be USP of the earlier JD(U)-BJP coalition government.”

“The days of strongmen like Mohammad Shahbuddin, Pappu Yadav, Prabhunath Singh, Ritlal Yadav and Anant Singh have returned after joining of hands between Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad” Sushil Modi said firing several salvos at Manjhi ministry.

The BJP leaders reeled figures on crimes which showed the number of cognisable offences, which was 1.04 lakh in 2005, rising to 1.85 lakh in 2013 and was pegged at 1.3 lakh till August 2014. The state has also witnessed 2,386 murders and 816 rapes till August.
