Kolkata, March 16: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Friday admonished party lawmakers for their poor attendance in the state assembly and directed the chief whip to prepare a list of those who stay away from the house.
Banerjee got angry when she saw many Trinamool members absent from the house during question hour when she replied to queries raised by opposition Left Front and Congrss members.
While going out of the Assembly premises, Banerjee asked some Trinamool members why they skipped the House proceedings. When one of them tried to explain that he was caught in some other event, a stern chief minister said: "Don't keep events such as this when the assembly proceedings are on."
In the afternoon, chief whip Sovandeb Chattopadhyay served a notice to all Trinamool members asking them to remain in the House for the entire duration of daily proceedings till they were over for the day.
Interestingly, the opposition has been constantly critical of the chief minister herself for skipping assembly proceedings and not answering questions related to her departments during question hour.
