Kolkata: Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee will meet Congress President Sonia Gandhi in Delhi.
She has accepted Sonia's invitation to attend the International Conference to be held in Delhi to celebrate the 125th birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
The two-day event will be held on November 17 and 18 and will be attended by a host of international leaders and representatives of various political parties from India and abroad.
Mamata Banerjee's move to meet Sonia Gandhi comes at a time when the Congress in West Bengal, alongwith the Left and BJP, has been launching an offensive against the Trinamool Congress for carrying out attacks on supporters belonging to Opposition parties, particularly in Birbhum and other districts.
Sources at the Chief Minister's secretariat said, Mamata Banerjee has accepted the Congress invitation and she may meet the Congress president.
After quitting UPA-2 government in a huff to protest petrol, diesel and LPG price hike, Mamata Banerjee had stopped all interactions with the Congress party.
The move is also seen as a stimulus to steps being taken by Samajwadi Party, RJD and Janata dal (U) to mobilise all anti-BJP forces at the national level.
