Palghar (Maharashtra): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched a blistering attack on Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) accusing them of being neck-deep in corruption.

“NCP, Congress made ‘scam Maharashtra', we want to make it ‘skill Maharashtra'. If we have to work towards development, then youths need to be employed,” the Prime Minister said while addressing an election rally in Palghar, the newly formed 36th district of Maharashtra.

The Prime Minister further appealed the crowd to vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on October 15 and thus allowing it to form a complete majority government which will take the state to new heights of success.

“Press the button of Lotus symbol and end all the demonic powers. On the last day of campaigning today, I request you to vote for BJP on October 15 to end the 15 years of corruption. There has been corruption here. Do you want to save Maharashtra?” Modi said.

"With the kind of response I have been witnessing during my rallies in the state, I have no doubt that BJP will get full majority in Maharashtra. I was Chief Minister of Gujarat but never dared to hold public meeting at 9 am and I am amazed at the huge turnout at this rally being held at 9 am," Modi added.

He also took the opportunity to rake-up the issue of fishermen being jailed in Pakistan and assured them relief from any kind of difficulties from the neighbouring side.

"Those asking me for an account never remembered the daughters of poor families, fishermen and the youths from poor families who were locked up in jails abroad," he said.

“The fishermen of Palghar share a special bond with Gujarat. I am aware about the difficulties fishermen of both the states face... Fishermen of both these places are locked up in jails of Pakistan. After taking oath as Prime Minister, I took up this issue with Pakistan,” he added.

“I told Pakistan Prime Minister that you not only imprison the fishermen but also take their boats. First time in ten years, Pakistan released over 50 boats of our fishermen," he further said.

He added that it was Atal Bihari Vajpayee's government that first created a special ministry for tribals and set aside a budget for them separately.

In 2022, when India celebrates 75 years of Independence there should not be a single family which does not have a house of their own. This is my dream, he said.

“Palghar is the new district in Maharashtra and it will be my endeavour to make it among the most developed in the state, the Prime Minister said.

Campaigning for October 15 Assembly polls in Maharashtra and Haryana will conclude today evening. Polling in both the states will be held in a single phase.
