Mumbai: In the Maharashtra Assembly session, some MLAs while taking oath, raised slogans of ‘Jai Vidarbha'. These slogans created ruckus in the House as Pro-tem speaker Jeeva Pandu Gavit today made a ruling against them.
The ruling said, “It will not be part of the record. Pro-tem speaker says this is the assembly of ‘akhand Maharashtra' (united Maharashtra) and regional slogans cannot be raised.”
He went on to say that any legislator chanting slogan will be suspended.
The Protem Speaker gave the ruling after Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray raised objection to the slogans in writing.
The special session began on Monday and in the first two days the newly elected MLAs will take oath. On November 12, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will take the floor test to prove majority of his government in the assembly.
