Panaji, Nov 3: Former Mumbai Commissioner Julio Ribeiro has said that Lokpal legislation alone was not enough to end corruption in the society.
Rebeiro was speaking in a debate on corruption organised by Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) here yesterday.
The former super cop, known for his stint in Punjab police said that several holistic measures were needed to weed out the menace of corruption and the issue has to be sufficiently addressed at the grassroots.
Rebeiro, who has held top positions like Ambassador to Romania, said corruption affects the poorest of the poor sections of society the most and that is where we have to focus our attention if we have to get rid of it. He praised Anna Hazare for creating an environment against corruption in the country.
