New Delhi, Dec 12: The Lok Sabha was adjourned till 2 p.m. Wednesday after Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) members disrupted proceedings demanding action on alleged irregularities in the allocation of coal blocks.
BSP members had approached the Speaker Meira Kumar's podium to raise the issue during Question Hour earlier, in what appears to be a pressure tactic on the government to get the bill on reservations in job promotions for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes passed in the Rajya Sabha.
The speaker had then adjourned the house till noon. The trouble continued when the house met and Congress MP Francisco Sardinha, who was in the chair, adjourned the house till 2 p.m.
The Congress has said it is committed to the bill, which is being staunchly opposed by the Samajwadi Party.
