Jagdalpur(Bastar):  BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and Congress President Sonia Gandhi today launched their election campaign in Chhattisgarh, with Modi alleging that there was a terrorist plan to kill him and other leader by blowing up the dais at Patna Gandhi Maidan.

Sonia Gandhi on her part said, BJP had been making hollow promises in Chhattisgarh for the last 10 years, and said, voters should bring in Congress in the current elections.

Addressing a well-attended rally in Jagdalpur, Modi alleged that terrorists had planned to kill him and other leaders by blowing up the dais, but the Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar did not take this up seriously. "Instead there was not a sign of remorse on his face, and at this party conclave in Rajgir, sumptuous dishes were served. The Bihar chief minister purely indulged in politics.

"On the other hand, when Maoists killed senior Congress leaders in Chhattisgarh, BJP CM Dr Raman Singh personally visited the families of each Congress leader and offered sympathy. The marvellous manner in which he handled the situation was praised by other chief ministers at the National Integration Council meeting", Modi said.

Here is a blow-by-blow account of the speeches of Sonia Gandhi and Narendra Modi:
