Live reporting: Polling ends in Madhya Pradesh and Mizoram

Bhopal/Aizawl: Polling came to a close this evening in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh and Congress-ruled Mizoram. Madhya Pradesh has registered highest ever polling of above 70 per cent, according to EC. Mizoram has recorded around 82

Voting will continue till 5 pm. For the first time, the none of the above (NOTA) option would be available to the voters in the state.

In Mizoram, voters came out to cast their ballots for the 40-member assembly.

Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla of the Congress and all his 11 ministers are among 142 candidates are contesting the polls.

For the first time in the country, voter-verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) system will be used in this election in a larger scale, in 10 constituencies.
