Meira Kumar, Giriraj Singh file nominations papers

Patna: Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, senior BJP leader Giriraj Singh and LJP nominee Chirag Paswan were among 25 candidates who filed nomination papers today for six Lok Sabha constituencies in Bihar going to polls

Patna: Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, senior BJP leader Giriraj Singh and LJP nominee Chirag Paswan were among 25 candidates who filed nomination papers today for six Lok Sabha constituencies in Bihar going to polls in the third phase on April 10 next.


Kumar, a sitting MP, filed her nomination from Sasaram (SC) on the Congress ticket where three other candidates Ravikant Chaudhary (Independent), Tetari Devi (CPI-ML Liberation) and Saroj Ram (Bahujan Mukti Party) also submitted their papers, a release by the CEO's office said.  

The 68-year-old Congress leader is seeking a third straight term in Parliament.

BJP's Giriraj Singh and six others - Azad Gita Prasad Sharma, Sulochana Devi, Safdar Ismail (all Ind), Surendra Rajvanshi (SP), Suhail Anwar (BSP), and Umakant Rahi (Shoshit Samaj Dal) - filed their nomination from Nawada constituency.  

From Jamui (SC) seat, LJP supremo Ramvilas Paswan's son Chiraj Paswan filed his nomination papers along with Brahmdev Anand Paswan (BSP), Bishun Chaudhary (Shiv Sena) and Jai Prakash Das (CPI-ML Liberation).

Former RJD MP Kanti Singh and two Independents Imran Ali and Ramdayal Singh filed nomination papers from Karakat seat, while Hari Singh (BJP), Niranjan Kumar (CPI-ML Liberation) and Dev Kumar Chaudhary (Ind) filed nomination from Gaya (SC) seat.

Four candidates - Santosh Kumar (BSP), Upendra Nath (Bahujan Mukti Party), Ramji Singh and Durga Thakur (both Ind) filed nomination papers from Aurangabad seat.
