New Delhi: Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi or Bapu, was assassinated on January 30th 1948 at Delhi's Birla House. He was going to address a prayer meeting and was walking towards the platform. Nathuram Godse, who assassinated Gandhiji, was a Hindu nationalist and strongly felt that Gandhi had favoured Pakistan.
