Before entering the temple, he asked the on-duty DSP ashok Kumar Kumar to wash his feet. The DSP could not refuse after Lalu asked him to do so. He started pouring water on Lalu's feet. After that, Lalu entered the temple.
When asked by reporters to explain his conduct, the DSP clarified that Lalu was his childhood friend as they both belong to the same village. He said that keeping in mind the personal bond with Lalu, he did not mind pouring water on his feet.
