Patna, Jul 7: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi today claimed that RJD chief Lalu Prasad was making desperate bid to become a member in the Manmohan Singh Cabinet.
“Prasad can't live without power... he does politics only for power,” Modi told reporters.
Referring to Prasad's recent meeting with UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi, he alleged that Prasad was making desperate bid to become a Central minister. Equating Lalu's condition with that of “a fish without water,” Modi said Prasad wanted to become a minister “for saving himself in the cases of multi-crore rupees fodder scam.”
“After remaining in power for 15 years in the state and five years at the Centre, the RJD leader wants to become minister at Congress' mercy... and Prasad's support to the Congress nominee in Jamshedpur bypoll also reflected the hunger of the RJD boss for power,” he said. Meanwhile, JD(U) national spokesman Shivanand Tiwari wondered whether the Congress would accommodate Prasad in the Union cabinet.
“After failing to find a place in politics in Bihar following the serious drubbing RJD faced in the October-November 2010 Assembly polls, Lalu ji knows well that nothing will happen for him in Bihar and thus he is trying to get a berth in the Union Ministry,” Tiwari said. PTI
