New Delhi: Former IPL chairman Lalit Modi today claimed that he had met Congress president Sonia Gandhi's daughter Priyanka Gandhi and her husband Robert Vadra in London last year.

"Happy to meet the Gandhi Family in London. I had run into Robert and Priyanka separately in a resturant - they were with Timmy Sarna. He has my no. They can call me. Will tell them what I feel about them exactly," Modi said in a tweet.

"Will mince no words. Will make no deal. But tell them witch hunt will now make them realize I was. If I remember correctly it was last year and the year before. Doubt either reported it to anyone. They were in power then," Modi said in a series of tweets.

The latest revelation has come as an  embarrassment to Congress, which has been demanding resignation of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje for helping Modi.

Meanwhile, Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said that this is an attempt by the BJP to divert focus from the core issue.

He said, "This is a smear campaign by the BJP. Priyanka aur Robert did not met Lalit Modi socially ..Meeting in a restaurant is not a crime."

The entire controversy erupted after it was revealed that Swaraj had last year helped Modi to procure his travel documents in UK. Later, Modi's lawyer dragged Raje's name saying that she too had helped his client.

Modi moved to London in 2010 amid Enforcement Directorate investigation of FEMA violations amounting to 425 crore in IPL TV rights deal by Lalit Modi in 2009.
