The Congress on Monday  said it had supported the 23-month-old Madhu Koda government in Jharkhand in the hope of getting better performance than the BJP-led NDA government, but withdrew support as it "failed" to deliver.

"The Congress supported Koda in the hope of a better performance than the previous BJP-led government, but that did not happen. The Congress was the first to withdraw support to the Koda government," JPCC spokesman Radhakrishna Kishore told a press conference in Ranchi.

To a query on money laundering charges against Koda, he said the law would take its own course.

JMM president Shibu Soren succeeded Koda. But Soren lost the Tamar assembly bypoll and quit the chief minister's chair leading to the imposition of President's rule in the state.

Jharkhand is going to polls in five phases beginning from November 25.

The JPCC Spokesman said "The Congress-Jharkhand Vikas Morcha tie-up is an ideal alliance which can make Jharkhand an ideal state. We are optimistic that the people will support us to put a lid on corruption." PTI
