Bengaluru: Dubbing Aam Aadmi Party a ‘B team' of BJP, Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh today accused Kiran Bedi and Arvind Kejriwal of exploiting anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare for their political ambitions.
“I have always said that AAP is Team B of the BJP, because they both protest and fight against corruption at the behest of the RSS, still they (AAP) are team B,” he told reporters here.
“...My charge is, and I'm repeating it, in February 2010 a meeting was held in Vivekananda International Foundation in Delhi... where Gurumurthy, Govindacharya of the RSS, Baba Ramdev, Arvind Kejriwal and the then Vivekananda International Foundation's Director Nripendra Misra, who is now the PS to Prime Minister and a nominee of Sri Sri Ravishankar were present and they had decided to involve Anna Hazare in the anti corruption movement.”
Singh said Bedi had always had political ambition and so did Arvind Kejriwal but there was nothing wrong in it and it was a “welcome sign.”
“We want more and more such people to come into active politics after all they will then realise what are the compulsions and difficulties of an active politicians,” he said.
He said announcement of Bedi's nomination as BJP's Chief Ministerial candidate was a surprising one. “One day she joins the BJP and next day she is declared Chief Ministerial candidate, this shows the bankruptcy of BJP leaders in Delhi.”
Singh also said AAP leader Kumar Vishwa's recent statement proves his point that both Bedi and Kejriwal along with General V K Singh (who is now Minister in Modi government) had prevailed upon Anna Hazare not to take on the issues of corruption of BJP Chief Ministers.
He said he has “sympathies” for Delhi BJP leaders Jagdish Mukhi, Satish Upadhyay and Harsh Vardhan who had spent all their life working for BJP. “Suddenly a paratrooper has landed as leader of BJP campaign,” he said, referring to Bedi.
