New Delhi: Khushboo, the actress-turned-DMK leader, has developed the knack for hogging limelight for all the wrong reasons. Before joining politics, Khushboo was one of the most admired and gorgeous actress of southern India. She has acted in more than 100 films and has acted opposite leading stars like Rajnikanth, Kamal Hassan, Mammootty, Mohanlal, Sathyaraj and Prabhu.Khushboo has found herself in thick of controversies even before she joined politics. In 2005, she stirred a controversy by saying that it was fine for girls to have pre-marital sex but not without taking precautions to prevent pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. Not only this, she later went on to say that no educated man should expect his wife or girlfriend to be a virgin. These statements were more than enough to land her in trouble. After making these statements, she found herself in the firing line of parties like PMK and The Pattali Makkal Katchi. Around 22 cases were filed against Khushboo for making pre-marital sex comment. Khushboo fought the court battle for almost 5 years and finally the Supreme Court cleared her of all the charges in 2010.After getting clean chit from SC, Khushboo expressed her desire to join politics and gave hints that she might join Congress as it was her preferred party. She went on to say that she was a "great admirer" of Indira Gandhi, and a "huge fan" of Rajiv Gandhi while her husband, actor-director Sundar C, was a fan of Priyanka Wadra. Khushboo sprang a surprise when , all of a sudden, she joined DMK led by M Karunanidhi. Karunanidhi described Khushboo as a ‘progressive woman'and said he was fascinated by her acting in the Tamil film Periyar, in which she essayed the role of Maniammai, wife of social reformer E V Ramasamy. Ver soon, Khushboo became one of the most visible public faces of DMK.Khushboo is very articulate and has strong opinion on matters of socio-political importance.Recently, her home was attacked by that section of DMK cadres who were not happy wither her statement on the heir apparent of DMK and son of Karunanidhi – Stalin. Asked to comment on the possibility of Stalin succeeding Karunanidhi as DMK chief, Khushboo said that the party's general council was yet to take a call on the matter.This was sufficient to enrage the supporters of Stalin who lost no time in expressing their displeasure over her statement and attacked her house. Khushboo is trying her best to douse the fire generated by her statement .Khushboo was born on 29 September 1970 as Nakhat Khan in Mumbai. She started her film career in the early 1980s as a child artist. Her first movie appearance was in ‘The Burning Train'( 1980) in the song ‘Teri Hai Zameen Tera Aasman. It was followed by ‘Thodisi Bewafaii ‘(1980). But in both these films she did not get any credit.She had her first credited role in the 1981 film Laawris, and Dard ka Rishta (1982). She played the role of the sister of Anil Kapoor in the 1985 hit Meri Jung, and danced with Javed Jaffrey in his first dancing role on screen in the superhit song ‘Bol Baby Bol, Mere Sang Dol'.Having failed in making a mark for herself in Hindi film industry she moved over to south and succeeded in positioning herself as a leading actress in that part.Let's have a look at some of her most interesting pics:
