Lucknow: Twenty nine candidates, including Congress' Salman Khurshid, SP's Dimple Yadav and BJP's Hema Malini filed their nominations for the third phase of Lok Sabha elections from Uttar Pradesh today.
With this, the total number of candidates in fray for the third phase of elections from UP have reached 90, UP Chief Electoral Officer Umesh Sinha told reporters here.
Prominent among those who filed their papers today were Union Minister Salman Khurshid from Farukhabad, Bollywood actress Hema Malini from Mathura, SP supremo Mulayama Singh Yadav's daughter-in-law and UP CM Akhilesh Yadav's wife Dimple Yadav from Kannauj and daughter of opposition leader in the state assembly Swami Prasad Maurya, Sanghamitra Maurya of BSP from Manipuri.
The third phase of Lok Sabha elections from Uttar Pradesh will be held on April 24. The last date for filing of nominations is April 5 and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is April 9.
The CEO also said that 15 candidates filed their nominations for the fourth phase of elections for which the figure had reached 20 till now.
