Lucknow, Nov 2: The Uttar Pradesh unit of the Congress Friday called India Against Corruption (IAC) activist Arvind Kejriwal a "foreign agent".
Terming him a "puppet" in the hands of foreign forces out to create instability in the country, state Congress spokesperson Maroof Khan said Kejriwal was claiming to expose irregularities of Rs.71 lakh in a trust run by Salman Khurshid while in Faizabad, property worth crores of rupees was gutted in communal violence.
Referring to the recent IAC rally in Khurshid's parliamentary constituency Farrukhabad, Khan said this was done to "gain cheap popularity".
In a written statement, he accused Kejriwal of moving around with "revenue thieves" like IAC member Prashant Bhushan. Khan said that instead of whipping up passions on false and fabricated accusations of politicians, Kejriwal should "highlight the good deeds" of politicians as well.
