Bangalore: Karnataka High Court will on Tuesday hear the bail plea of former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa.
Jayalalithaa is currently lodged in Parappana Agrahara Central Prison. She was sentenced four-year imprisonment by a special court here in connection with Rs 66 crore disproportionate assets case.
"The criminal revision petition (CRP) has been listed for admission Tuesday before the vacation bench of Justice Rathnakala," Jayalalithaa's counsel said.
Sources in AIADMK said that criminal lawyer Ram Jethmalani will argue the case seeking suspension of the four-year jail sentence.
Earlier on Saturday, a special court here had convicted the AIADMK chief and her three close associates. The court, besides awarding four-year imprisonment, had also slapped a fine of Rs 100 crore on her under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Three associates -- Sasikala Natarajan, her nephew VN Sudhakaran and her sister in-law J Illavarasi -- were also given four years in the corruption case.
