KannaujFarrukhabad (UP), Jul 4 : Amid speculations of former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh making a come-back to the BJP, firebrand leader Uma Bharti today tried to stay clear of comparisons with him, saying he was like a father figure to her.
“Kalyan Singh is like a father figure to me... I cannot be his alternative but like a daughter can be his successor,” Bharti, who is currently on a visit to Jasoda district as part of her “nirmal ganga abhiyan”, said.
Bharti's return to the BJP is being regarded as an opportunity for the party to win back backwards, specially the Lodhas, as both the leaders belong to the same community. There are reports of BJP mulling a comeback for Singh as well with an eye on UP Assembly polls next year. The BJP leader also attacked Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi calling his “love for Dalits” a fraud. “I will believe in his love for dalits the day they are invited for dining at 10 Janpath,” she said.
Flaying Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav, she said that he was only interested in the welfare of his family.
On UP chief minister Mayawati, she said she was busy glorifying herself through erecting statues and amassing wealth.
“The people of the state are fed up of Mayawati government and BJP would contest the coming assembly elections on the issue of corruption and crime and take an account from her,” Bharti said.
The BJP leader said she has vowed not to take cereals till river Ganga was cleaned. PTI
