New Delhi, Mar 10: BJP top brass today held a brainstorming session with the party members, who are part of the JPC on the 2G spectrum allocation scam, to chalk out strategy on cornering the government on the issue.
BJP Parliamentary Party leader L K Advani held a meeting with Jaswant Singh, Yashwant Sinha, Harin Pathak, S S Ahluwalia and Ravi Shankar Prasad to discuss how the party should take on the government for its role in the anomalies in 2G spectrum allocation.
Gopinath Munde, who is in Maharashtra for party work, could not attend the meeting.
Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and her Rajya Sabha counterpart Arun Jaitley also attended the meeting.
The BJP members in the JPC were told to prepare drafts of their arguments and the list of suggestions to be submitted to the parliamentary panel.
The first meeting of JPC will be held on March 24.
Sources said Harin Pathak had already submitted some documents to JPC Chairperson P C Chacko on the 2G Spectrum issue and suggestions for making changes in policy and law to prevent such scams in future.
The main opposition has nominated senior party members who have served in previous JPC. While Pathak and Ahluwalia were members of the JPC on Harshad Mehta scam, Sinha, Singh and Prasad are senior party leaders who served in the NDA as union ministers.
Armed with wide-ranging powers, a JPC can summon union ministers as well as officials during its investigations into the issue. It can also access important files and papers for its probe. PTI
