Ranchi, Dec 9: The JMM Sunday dared the BJP to walk out of the Jharkhand government after the former sided with the UPA and voted for FDI in retail in parliament.
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha MP Kameshwar Baitha voted for the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government while MP Shibu Soren abstained from voting in the Lok Sabha.
The motion against foreign direct investment in multi-brand retail was moved by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In the Rajya Sabha voting, the JMM abstained.
The JMM supports the BJP-led government in Jharkhand.
In April 2010, after Shibu Soren voted for the UPA government in the Lok Sabha on a BJP motion on price hike, the latter withdrew support to the JMM government.
"Let the BJP decide whether they want to be in the (Jharkhand) government or not. We have taken a stand on FDI," Deputy Chief Minister and JMM leader Hemant Soren told reporters.
Shibu Soren had on several occasions said he supported the central government despite being allied to the BJP in Jharkhand.
The BJP took power in Jharkhand with JMM's support in September 2010.
