Jammu: Comparing the NC with a sinking ship, BJP today termed the decision of Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah of abandoning his family bastion Ganderbal seat as an attempt to “run away” from facing the consequence of “six years of mis- governance” in the state.

“He is aware that the National Conference and the Congress have lost their ground, as both the parties have miserably failed to deliver in the past six years.

The chief minister himself is shying away from facing the outcome of his failure,” BJP state president and MP from Jammu Jugal Kishor Sharma told reporters here.

The BJP leader said, “NC is a sinking ship whose captain has now abandoned it. If the leader has to choose two safe seats, you can well understand the fate of other party leaders.”

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who had contested the elections from Ganderbal Assembly constituency in 2008 has decided to contest the upcoming Assembly elections from Beerwah in Budgam and Sonwar Assembly in Srinagar.

Ganderbal has been the family stronghold for the Abdullah's as Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah and Farooq Abdullah had represented the constituency in the past.

Sharma claimed that many sitting MLA, Ministers and former MPs from Jammu and Kashmir from various political parties were willing to join BJP. “They are willing to come and join BJP even if they don't get the party ticket, they want to be a part of the phenomenon called Narendra Modi and BJP,” Sharma said.

Earlier today the president of the Socialist Democratic Party Darakhan Abdrabi merged her party into BJP.  “My party and BJP has similar goals that is development and good governance, so I took a decision to merge my party with BJP,” Andrabi said.

Several other prominent leaders from different political parties including RS Pathania, Secretary, Congress today joined BJP.

“These people want to be a part of BJP, they are not joining to seek party mandate, but they want to be a part of the campaign led by the Narendra Modi government to provide a corruption-free governance to the people of the country,” Jugal Kishore Sharma said.
