Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday accused the BJP for indulging in divisive politics to attain its 'mission 44+' (majority mark in Assembly) and termed it as a "daydream" of the party.

"BJP is indulging in divisive politics and their 'mission 44+' is nothing but a hoax, and its bubble will burst by witnessing the faith of people in National Conference," Omar said while addressing an election rally in Banihal.

Appealing to the people of the state to remain united, Omar said, "The people of the state must be united to foil all attempts aimed at creating hatred and division."

He said that certain forces were out to "ignite tension" on various counts by flaring-up sentiments of people for vote.

Omar appealed people to vote whole-heartedly for NC candidates ensuring their thumping victory in the Assembly polls.

Highlighting "achievements" of his government in the past six years, Omar said, "We took steps to enhance economic activities in the far-flung areas by launching power, road construction and other projects."

“Creation of new administrative units was aimed at bringing the administration to the doorsteps of the people to help mitigate their difficulties on socio economic and development fronts,” he added.

Launching an attack on the opposition People Democratic Party (PDP) for misleading the people of the state to grab the power, Omar said, "PDP is using deceitful politics and opportunist tactics to mislead people to grab power in the state".

Omar also blamed PDP for exploiting the sufferings of the flood hit people of the state for "political mileage".

"So much so PDP without bothering for the suffering of lakhs of flood affected peoples in Kashmir and parts of Jammu left no stone unturned to ensure that elections are held as early as possible in the state," he said.
