Ranchi: Voting began for the third round of the five-phase assembly elections in Jharkhand today, officials said.
Balloting is being held in 17 of the 81 assembly constituencies in this phase. In the third phase, the electoral fate of 289 candidates will be decided by 50,16,657 voters, including 23,55,728 female.
The polling will take place on 5,865 booths. Voting will start at 7 a.m. and will end till 3 p.m. in 15 constituencies while in two constituencies voting will continue till 5 p.m.
Eight MLAs are seeking re-elections in this phase, having 103 independent candidates out of a total of 289, including 26 women.
The constituencies going to the poll are: Kodarma, Barkatha, Barhi, Barkagaon, Ramgarh, Mandu, Hazaribagh, Simaria (SC), Dhanwar, Gomia, Bermo, Ichagarh, Silli, Khijri (ST), Ranchi, Hatia and Kanke (SC).
