New Delhi: Eminent lawyer and former Law minister Ram Jethmalani on Thursday came down heavily upon Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, calling him a ‘disaster' for PM Modi and that he will ensure that ‘one day he lands in jail'.
Jethmalani, a former BJP member, will represent Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a Rs 10 crore defamation suit filed against him and some senior AAP leaders by Jaitley.
In an interview to a Marathi News Channel, Jethmalani attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his support to Jaitley , “I have lost all respect for Modi because of his support to that crook, ” he said.
Jaitley has dismissed the allegations levelled by AAP, Congress and now supended MP Kirti Azad in the alleged DDCA scam saying facts would be extremely inconvenient" for the opposition.
Jaitley has been on the radar of 89-year-old lawyer for years now as he holds the Finance Minister responsible for his removal as law minister in the Vajpayee government.
He was suspended by BJP in Nov 2012 after he opposed the letter written to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh by Sushma Swaraj, then leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Arun Jaitley, then leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, asking him to keep the CBI director Ranjith Sinha's appointment in abeyance.
Terming Jaitley the "biggest disappointment", Jethmalani told TOI, "He is a person who is shameless. As finance minister, he has done nothing to fulfill the promise that the Modi government made to the people... to get back the Rs 90 lakh crore kept in banks abroad."
