New Delhi, Mar 28: Four months after his spectacular victory in Bihar, JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar today hit back at his detractors with the suspension of four party MPs including his friend-turned-foe Rajiv Ranjan for anti-party activities.

Others against whom similar action was taken were Upendra Kushwaha (Rajya Sabha), Sushil Singh (Lok Sabha) and Mangni Lal Mandal (Lok Sabha), JD(U) general secretary Javed Raja said in a statement here.

JD(U) took the step after the party's state disciplinary committee found that the Parliamentarians had campaigned against the party's designated candidate in their respective Assembly constituencies.

Incidentally, the action was taken just after the Budget Session of Parliament was concluded even as the party leadership had been maintaining so far that they had only received the report from the disciplinary committee against the MPs.

Bihar JD(U) chief Vashishtha Narayan Singh had forwarded the report of the committee to the party chief, Raja said.

The committee had found that all the MPs, including Mandal who is the chief whip in the House, had canvassed against the party's nominated candidate in their respective constituencies.

The November Assembly polls in Bihar saw Nitish Kumar-led JDU-BJP combine storm back into power after a convincing victory in a three-cornered contest against the RJD-LJP combine and the Congress. PTI
