Even as Jayalalithaa and Modi congratulated each other on the resounding victory in the Lok Sabha elections, the invite sent to Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa to participate in swearing-in ceremony of the new government did not go down well with the AIADMK leader.
Jayalalithaa, along with her newly-elected MPs gave Modi's swearing-in ceremony last week a miss.
In a strongly-worded letter to Modi on Sunday on the sidelines of fresh arrests of fishermen made by the Lankan Navy, Jayalalithaa said there was high expectation in Tamil Nadu that the new NDA-led government at the Centre would act decisively on the very sensitive issue, involving the livelihood of lakhs of poor fishermen. She sought a proactive action to bring about a permanent solution to the fishermen issue.
The newly-elected AIADMK MPs have already reached Delhi to welcome the chief minister and they will also be present in South Block.
Jayalalithaa will leave Chennai in a special aircraft at 8.30am. She will meet Prime Minister at 1pm and thereafter President Pranab Mukherjee at 2.30pm, before leaving for Tamil Nadu House, where Union ministers Ravi Shankar Prasad and Nirmala Seetharaman will visit her.
The CM is expected to return to Chennai at 8pm.
