1. Jawaharlal Nehru was a prolific writer. He penned an autobiography entitled “Toward Freedom” which was published in the USA in 1936. Nehru wrote this book while he was in prison from June 1934 to February 1935.
“The Discovery of India” was a manifestation of Nehru's literary genius. The book chronicles India's growth. He tells the Indian story right from the times of Indus Valley civilization to the British Raj. He had written another book while he was in prison from 1942-1946 after the Quit India movement. It is called ‘Glimpses of World History'.
In reality this book is a collection of 146 letters written to his only daughter Indira, who became the 3rd Prime Minister of India.
