New Delhi: Six political parties today decided to merge themselves in order to form a new group that will be headed by veteran socialist leader and former UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav.
The six parties are JDU,SP,RJD,SJP,JD(S) and INLD. The name of new party, symbol and flag will be decided after taking into consideration views of Presidents of all 6 parties.
Making the announcement, Sharad Yadav said, “It has been unanimously decided that Mulayam Singh Yadav ji will be the President of new political group.”
“The decision of the new political group was unanimously taken by the leaders of JDU,SP,RJD,SJP,JDS & INLD,” added Yadav.
A six member committee has been formed that will decide on party's future course of action. The committee will decide the name, flag, symbol and agenda of the new political outfit. The committee includes former prime minister H.D. Devgowda , Om Prakash Chautala , Sharad Yadav, Laloo Yadav, Kamal Morarka, Ram Gopal Yadav. Mulayam will also head the parliamentary panel
The merger announcement comes ahead of the Bihar assembly polls scheduled for later this year.
“It has been unanimously decided that Mulayam Singh Yadav ji will be the President of new political group," Sharad Yadav said in the press meet.
“The decision of the new political group was unanimously taken by the leaders of JDU,SP,RJD,SJP,JDS & INLD,” he added.
ormer prime minister H D Devgowda said, "we will work out the other formalities in our discussions in next one or two meetings."
He also said that the decision has been collectively taken.
Addressing the press conference Laoo Yadav said the alliance has been formed to counter the influence of the communal forces and to propel the socialist ideology in the country. Laloo also said that there is no clash of ego in the newly formed of the alliance.
Meanwhile, there are reports of divide within the Samajwadi party over the merger , as CM Akhilesh Yadav and Senior SP Ram Gopal Yadav are reportedly not in favour of the merger.
Taking jibe at the Janata Parivar merger, Senior BJP leader Shahnawaj Hussain said, the differences are clear before the formal merger. Even the sign name & symbol haven't been decided yet.
He further said, even if they all come together they can't stop BJP in Bihar.
BJP Spokesperson Sambit Patra also said that they had badly lost in 2014 and out of desperation they have come together because this is a war for existence.
