The couple was intrigued by the fact that they were just meant to be with each other. Very shortly marriage was on the cards. But Mother India was still in its production stages and hence the couple decided to zip up their love affair as it could have proved to be a controversy.
Both made desperate attempts to keep it a clandestine love affair. For this reason not many people are aware how the couple met and where it all began. They met after sunset and wrote to each other.
The couple tied a knot in 1958 and had three children, Sanjay, Priya and Namrata Dutt.
