Bandipora (JK): Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president Saif-ud-din Soz today claimed that the party had an agenda to serve the people of the state but its coalition National Conference (NC) did not support it.
"I will tell you one thing that our coalition partner did not support us. It wasted our three years for empowering panchayats. We had an agenda to serve you, but they were miser in this and felt the Congress would take the credit.
"That is why, elections to local bodies did not take place. So, we could not do what we wanted to do for you," Soz said addressing an election rally here.
The JKPCC president said no government can be formed in the state after the assembly elections without the Congress party.
"Keep this in your heart and mind that there would be no government in the state without Congress party. Either we will lead the government or be a part of that. We will not sit at home but will take part in your struggle for development and prosperity," he said.
Soz said Congress party wants to keep the unity and brotherhood in the country intact, but there was a danger to the country because of the politics of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"We want the people of all the three regions of the state - Kashmir, Ladakh and Jammu, remain united. But right now, there is a danger to India from Modi's politics. Why am I saying this in Bandipora is because that every vote of yours will be against the communalism and for brotherhood and secularism," he said.
The Congress leader termed the BJP as a "dark shadow", saying only Congress can take on the "fascist and communal forces".
"A dark shadow has come in the country. This government is of the RSS. They have let one man be at the front. The people in the BJP are dying inside as this is not the government of the BJP. Remember this, no party here can take on Modi or communalism. Only Congress can fight him. We will take to task those who indulge in communalism and fascism," he said.
