Imran Hussain inducted into Delhi Cabinet

New Delhi: Ballimaran MLA Imran Hussain today took oath as minister in the Delhi Cabinet, replacing Asim Ahmed Khan, who was sacked by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for over alleged graft charges.

Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung today administered the oath of office and secrecy to Hussain in presence of Kejriwal, his deputy Manish Sisodia, Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta, Cabinet Ministers Satyendar Jain, Gopal Rai, Kapil Mishra and Sandeep Kumar, the Chief Secretary and other senior officials.

Although there was no mention of his portfolios, Hussain he is expected to get the same departments handled by Khan.

Hussain, who was the popular choice of Kejriwal after Khan's sacking, is one of the three minority faces in the Delhi Legislative Assembly.

The 34-year-old first time legislator, who did his Bachelors in Business Studies from Jamia Millia Islamia, defeated BJP's Shayam Lal Morwal by a margin 33,877 votes and Congress heavyweight Haroon Yusuf in the 2015 Assembly polls. He had joined AAP before the Lok Sabha polls.

Khan is the second minister to be sacked. Earlier, Jitendra Singh Tomar, who was the Law Minister, was sacked after he was arrested in alleged fake degree case and replaced by Kapil Mishra.

On October 9, Kejriwal summarily sacked Environment and Food Minister Khan for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 6 lakh from a builder and recommended a CBI probe into the case.
