New Delhi: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari today defended state – run Doordarshan's stand on telecasting Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Mohan Bhagwat's speech, saying that if it can telecast Nawaz Sharif at the Jama Masjid then why can't it show the RSS Chief?
“If Doordarshan can show Nawaz Sharif at the Jama Masjid, why should it not be allowed to show the RSS chief?” said Mr Gadkari to a news channel.
In May, Nawaz Sharif, the Pakistani Prime Minister, visited Delhi to attend the swearing-in of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and visited the famous 17th-century Jama Masjid mosque in the capital.
The annual speech on the festival of Dusshera or Vijaya Dashami, given by Mohan Bhagwat, was shown live on Friday by public broadcaster Doordarshan for the first time this year.
“The RSS isn't a religious organization, it is a cultural oragnisation, said Gadkari. Gadkari added that some people don't understand the philosophy of RSS.
