New Delhi, Jun 23: Notwithstanding the snub from the party, Congress leader Digvijay Singh today said he stands by “every word” he has said about Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee.

“I stand by every word that I have said,” Digvijay said when asked whether this also meant that he sticks by his remarks dubbing Banerjee as “immature” and “erratic” in her behaviour regarding the Presidential poll.

However, he replied in the negative when asked whether the Congress has reached the limit of tolerance with TMC.

Digvijay told the NDTV that Banerjee's naming Mannmohan Singh as one of her choices for Presidentship was “certainly an embarrassment for the Prime Minister....and to a great extent to the party.”

Party in-charge for West Bengal Shakeel Ahmed declined to comment on the latest remarks of Digvijay Singh.

“He is a senior leader. I do not want to comment.” Earlier this week, the AICC had snubbed Digvijay for his remarks against Banerjee making it clear that he was “not officially authorised” to speak to the media.

“Digvijay Singh is not officially authorised to speak on behalf of the party,” the AICC had said in a media release.

The AICC snub had followed a series of television interviews by Digvijay in which he had suggested that the Congress will not go beyond a point to mollify Banerjee.  A day after the snub, Digvijay said he had not “crossed any boundaries” of party line.

“Which boundaries have I crossed and on which issues,” he asked with regard to an AICC statement yesterday that he was not authorised to speak on behalf of the party.

Digvijay at the same told PTI that he was in agreement with the party that he was not its spokesperson and that whatever he had said he had said in his “personal capacity”.
