Bongaon (WB): Trinamool Congress General Secretary Mukul Roy, who has been summoned by the CBI in connection with the multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam, today said that he has never been involved in any immoral act, either politically or personally, in his life.
“I am not involved in any immoral act either on behalf of the Trinamool Congress or personally in my life,” Roy said addressing party workers here ahead of the February 13 bypoll at Bongaon Lok Sabha constituency.
“TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee is our main asset and sign of honesty. This truth will continue to remain with the people and party workers in the coming days,” Roy said.
He said he would leave for Delhi this evening for “party work” having returned from the capital only yesterday.
“Today I took part in the campaign for the Bongaon bypoll. I will fly to Delhi this evening for party work,” Roy said and advised the workers to take responsibility for defeating BJP in all booths.
He said that during the nearly four-year of rule in West Bengal, the Trinamool Congress has reached many milestones including decrease in crime rate and absence of any communal tension in the state.
During his stay in Delhi, Roy had gone to the Election Commission to place the party views on the two by-polls announced for West Bengal.
The CBI had on January 12 asked Roy, who was then in Delhi, to appear before it in connection with the Saradha chit fund scam. On January 14, he had sought 15 days' time for appearance.
A CBI source had told PTI that Roy had been asked to appear before the agency by January 21, 2015.
