Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren won the Barhait seat, but all his ministerial colleagues except two suffered poll reverses in the Assembly elections whose results were declared today.

Soren won the Barhait seat defeating his nearest BJP rival Hemlal Murmu by 24,087 votes, but lost the Dumka seat to Lois Marandi of BJP by 5,262 votes.

Water Resources Minister Annapurna Devi of RJD lost her Kodarma seat to Neera Yadav of BJP by 13,000 votes.

Rural Works Minister Lobin Hembrom, also of JMM, lost toBJP rival Tala Marandi in the Boria seat.

HRD Minister Geetashree Oraon of Congress, an erstwhile alliance partner, came third in the Sisai seat which was won by BJP candidate Dinesh Oraon.

Disaster Management Minister Mannan Mallick also of Congress lost to BJP rival Raj Sinha by over 5,000 votes from the Dhanbad seat.

Agriculture Minister Banna Gupta of Congress lost to BJP leader Saryu Roy by over 10,000 votes in the Jamshedpur West seat.

Finance Minister in the Soren ministry, Rajendra Prasad Singh of Congress, lost the Bermo seat to his BJP rival Yogeshwar Mahto by over 10,000 votes.

Building Construction Minister Haji Hussain Ansari of JMM lost to his nearest BJP rival Raj Paliwar from Madhupur by over 6,000 votes.

Tourism Minister Suresh Paswan of RJD lost to his BJP rival Narayan Das in the Deoghar seat.

Rural Development Minister K N Tripathy of Congress lost the Daltonganj seat to JVM(P) candidate Alok Kumar Chaurasiya by over 5,000 votes.

Industry Minister Champai Soren of JMM bucked the trend as he won from the Saraikella seat, defeating his BJP rival Ganesh Mahali by around 1,000 votes.

Another minister who won is Drinking Water and Sanitation Minister Jaiprakash Bhai Patel of JMM. He won from the Mandu seat beating his nearest BJP rival Kumar Mahesh Singh by over 7,000 votes.

Jharkhand Assembly Speaker and JMM candidate Shashnak Sekhar Bhokta lost the Sarath seat, coming third after BJP candidate Uday Shankar Singh. JVM(P) candidate Randhir Kumar Singh won the seat.

JMM fought the polls alone this time, while Congress formed an alliance with RJD and JD(U). BJP had a prepoll alliance with the Ajsu party and LJP.
