Chandigarh: Hectic preparations are on for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the city on September 11, when he is scheduled to attend four events.

Roads and pavements of all areas through which the prime minister's motorcade will pass have been given a fresh look. Security around the four venues where Modi will be present has been tightened by Chandigarh and Punjab Police and paramilitary forces.

The prime minister's Special Protection Group (SPG) and the National Security Guards (NSG) Commandos have already arrived in Chandigarh to supervise security arrangements for the VVIP visit.

"All security arrangements are being made," Chandigarh senior superintendent of police Sukhchain Singh Gill told the media here.

A full-dress rehearsal of the route and venues where Modi will travel to has also been carried out by security agencies and local authorities.

After landing in Chandigarh on Friday morning, the prime minister will first inaugurate the international terminal of the Chandigarh airport.

Modi will then head to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research for a convocation.

The Prime Minister will address a public rally at the Sector 25 ground, which will largely be a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) affair.

He will then visit Sector 63 in the south-west part of Chandigarh to hand over keys of newly built economically weaker section flats to beneficiaries.
