Chandigarh: A lowly Haryana Police constable Naresh Singh was worried when the cellphone service provider deducted Rs 50 from his calltime in 2010, and he rang up customer care.
The call unfortunately went straight to Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who took the call himself.
Hooda said "Main Hooda, Haryana ka chief minister bol raha hoon." (This is Hood, Harayana CM speaking)
Constable Naresh, who was already worried about his Rs 50 and the inaccessible customer care guy, replied: "Haryana mein saare Hooda khud ko chief minister hi samjhte hain" (In Haryana, all Hoodas think of themselves as chief minister)
A furious Hooda disconnected and ordered his assistants to trace the man.
Constable Naresh Singh was issued a notice by his SP the next day saying he had "misbehaved with his seniors". He was transferred to Punjab, his salaries for last three years were withheld, and the annual increments given for the last 3 years were also withdrawn.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court was told that disciplinary action was taken against the constable on orders of the chief minister. The next hearing is fixed for December.
Naresh, in his defence, says, it was a wrong connection and he has been severely punished for a small mistake.
