Chandigarh, Jan 22: Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today appealed to the people of the state to maintain peace in the wake of a Delhi court sentencing Om Prakash Chautala and his son Ajay to ten years in jail in the teachers recruitment scam.
Hooda told reporters that nobody was above the law. He pointed out that the probe against Chautala was ordered in 2003 during the NDA regime.
The chief minister said, law is taking its own course, and the Chautala had legal relief available to them.
Former CM late Bhajan Lal's son and Haryana Janhit Congress chief Kuldeep Bishnoi hailed the verdict saying that this has established the majesty of law. Bishnoi said, everybody is equal in the eyes of law.
Indian National Lok Dal MLA Col Bir Singh slammed the verdict saying that they would go in for appeal in the High Court and Supreme Court. "Everybody knows that the CBI is biased and working under pressure from the Centre. Nowhere has it been proved that the Chautalas took money, only the mode of recruitment has been questioned."
