New Delhi: Amidst the row over the furlough to actor Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis today said government will go by rules and will not grant undue favour to anyone but at the same time it will not victimise anyone simply because he is a celebrity.
“We have already said that we will go by the rules. I have told my officers to check whether all the rules were followed. Because we are of the opinion that all prisoners are the same.
“Whether it is the celebrity or non-celebrity, we will not give undue favors to a celebrity but at the same time we will not victimize the celebrity. So, whatever has been done has been in accordance to the rules, we will recheck and if any rule is broken then we will take action,” Fadnavis told reporters here.
Dutt, convicted in 1993 blast case, was today back in Pune's Yerwada Central Jail after prison authorities turned down his request for extension of furlough citing lack of “positive” report from the police after days of indecision that resulted in the actor overstaying his leave.
