New Delhi: Slain airhostess Geetika Sharma was trying to part ways with her employers before she killed herself, revealed an email recovered by the police.
Hindustan Times reported, the e-mail is addressed to MDLR HR manager Aruna Chaddha, whose police custody was extended by a day by a local court on Sunday. Geetika had written to Chaddha saying that she wanted to build her career on her own,
“I will build my career on my own... no matter how many obstacles one puts in my way,” Geetika wrote in the email recovered by the police recently.Additional public prosecutor Rajiv Mohan argued before the court that the email showed that Geetika was being forced to join MDLR by Chaddha and that the word “one” referred to the prime accused, former Haryana minister Gopal Kanda.
“The mail shows that Kanda was creating obstacles in her way by persuasions, allurements and even threats to keep her at MDLR even though she wanted to get out of it,” the prosecutor told the court. He also said that the police was yet to recover electronic records of MDLR, which could be accessed by Chaddha as she knows the passwords to them.
Apparently depressed over continuous mental harassment allegedly at the hands of Kanda, 23-year-old Sharma took the extreme step at her Ashok Vihar residence in north-west Delhi. In her suicide note, Sharma, who quit Kanda's company recently, accused the former Haryana minister of mentally torturing her after she left the job.
Soon after recovering the note, the police had called Chaddha and Kanda for questioning. While Chaddha was interrogated and later put under arrest on August 8, Kanda — who faces abetment to suicide and criminal intimidation charges — continues to evade the police.
BS Rana, Chaddha's counsel, opposed the plea for police custody, saying the presence of the accused was no more required for recovering any documents.
He also argued that the police were seeking her custody only to “fabricate” evidence against her.
In another sensational revelation on Saturday, Delhi Police had told the court that Geetika had “terminated her pregnancies”. While seeking Chaddha's custody, police told the court that she was needed to identify and verify the places where Sharma was taken to terminate her pregnancies.
Geetika's family, however, said they had no knowledge about the matter.
