gadkari questions pm s role in spate of scams

Ranchi, Mar 27: BJP President Nitin Gadkari today wondered whether Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had "silent approval" of the series of scams his government was currently facing and said nobody in the government was taking any responsibility for all the wrong-doings.

"Doubts are being raised whether the spate of scams had the prime minister's silent approval...Manmohan Singh has proved himself as ineffective and helpless as he kept his eyes shut and remained silent as his cabinet colleagues indulged in corruption," Gadkari said in a press release here.

"The speciality of a democracy is accountability to the people...the Manmohan Singh-led Congress Government has sacrificed this speciality...no one in the government is ready to take responsibility," he said.

One has lost count of the total money involved in scams like 2G spectrum, CWG, Adarsh Housing, ISRO-Devas and cash-for-vote, Gadkari said.

He asked as to why the government was shying away from revealing names of those who stashed black money in foreign banks even after the Supreme court's directive. PTI
