Panaji, Feb 9: Ahead of the State Legislative assembly elections, the Congress party in Goa has nominated its Member of Parliament Fransisco Sardinha as a working president of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC).
GPCC is currently led by Subhash Shirodkar, who is also contesting from Shiroda constituency on the party ticket.
Sources said that Sardinha will head the party affairs during the time of elections as Shirodkar would be busy in his own constituency.
In yet another organisational change, the party has replaced its campaign manager, Mauvin Godinho with its former Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane.
Rane took over the charge from today. “Party manifesto would be youth centric. Preference would be given to industries in Information Technology (IT) sector,” he told reporters at Congress house soon after taking over.
Rane said that garbage is one of the most important issues that would be tackled by Congress once voted to power.
Elections for 40 constituencies of Goa legislative assembly would be held on March 3. Congress has struck an alliance with NCP to fight the polls.
